What is Career Guidance? Career Guidance is, in simple words, who you will be in the future. It’s not as simple as words say. In other words, Career Guidance is what your life and your future will be. This is a very common question and requirement of every human being. Some people arbitrate careers for their children when they are at the age of five or six, some are born with their careers etched in their brains. Some build highly practical structures for them in which they have to proceed step by step to achieve their final aspirations. Only very few people in the world receive careers unexpectedly at different times in their lives. But the fact is that most people don’t plan their careers and as a result either they end up with unsuccessful careers or they end up lacking any.
A lot of children inherit careers from their parents. The best examples are actors and singers. In some countries, parents start focusing their children from the age of five to becoming either beauticians or dancers. They even authorize minor procedures to adapt their children’s bodies for the desired careers. Surely if you do this with the right medical advice, the child will succeed in the future. The world is vastly developing with high technology and moving rapidly every day. Organizations need not only high-ranking officers but all their staff equipped with high technology and vast knowledge about their careers. The world is so competitive, and you need to perform extraordinarily against your competitors to secure yourself a position. Therefore, a person who has structured their career will be the most successful in today’s world. Think about this event. 100m/200m just started. How many years they may have planned to come to this day? And yet, everybody with all their plans. But finally, only one winner. Why Do I Need to have a Structured Career Plan? Many students do not understand this. The following theories are not the perfect factors but rather deciding factors, whether you believe it or not. a) If you are the only child of a wealthy family, where the parents became rich from their huge farmlands, you should consider either achieving a higher position related to farming or developing your parents' farm to a greater extent while engaging in a career related to farming. By doing so, not only will you succeed but you will also continue the great service your parents have provided to society. Otherwise, the business has to close down leading to an issue for the economy of the country and you may have ruined the great success which you could have attained b) Some children grow up with born talents. It could either be in arts, music, or some technical knowledge. If you are in that category; and you focus from your small age getting a structured plan from an expert, it will take you to the highest position in that field. If you were to continue without a structured plan, you will end up being just another “number’ in your field, but not as a shining star. c) Some students have parents and relatives or friends close to them in highly acclaimed professions. Those students are associating closely with them. In those circumstances, if you consult an expert, he could analyze all your surroundings and give you a structured plan to become a professional in connection to that profession of your family, relative, or friend. You knew the profession, the competitors, what they were lacking, and struggling and what they were fighting. You have all the adequate networks in the world and the backup to climb up the ladder of success to the top. Why don't you consider it? d) Think about your environment, your village, your county, and your state. What it is full of. Could be minerals, gems, or even natural resources. If you have any skills, any experience, or/and any interests; why not consult an expert and obtain a structured plan to become a professional in that field. You have all the resources and people around you. Don’t you think that if you were guided with a structured plan in this subject you can succeed in this path adding required skills, techniques, technology, scientific equipment, and methods that could simply take you to the highest stage in that profession? Enter a US high ranked High School & Earn “CREDITS” together with “All Issues.” You come to middle school, complete all the subjects without much pressure, move onto the next level which are the most crucial four years of your life; High School. You don't have much choice but to complete all the subjects. Some of which won’t benefit your future or your career and enter the race in which everybody is being motivated to get into one of the best universities, having no idea what you're going to study. You are drowned with seven subjects, where each teacher thinks only about her subject and assigns homework that requires you to spend three/four hours each assignment and leads you to struggle to balance your time with the rest of your subjects. You are supposed to do at least two extracurricular activities spending time after school. You are required to complete a required amount of social service hours. Therefore, you are volunteering at an organization for at least two hours per week. You are also participating in your favorite sports, which require your attendance at practices, meetings, and events. You must achieve leadership qualities and you may have to work in a club or school activities spending a lot of time, first participating, and then leading. You cannot imagine how far you have to get involved in these to get your name called as leaders. You need to show that you hold work experience too, therefore, you work at least four or five hours per week, with or without pay. Remember, there’s no guarantee that you find work related to your desires. Unless you’re a genius, you will most definitely find conflicts with some subjects where you will require additional help. There are instances your teachers turn back when you seek assistance. Some teachers get mad if you don't do your homework (this is the very reason that increases the drop-out rates of high school students). Some students will find it so hard as they have nobody to look for additional help. Nevertheless, universities also dig into your profile to see whether you have any research skills and innovative skills. Aside from your commitments, Most US Universities need students to be qualified from the SAT or the ACT to offer a place. But that is not in the high school education curriculum. Each university gives you the target score you need to achieve and if not, you are out of their boundaries. Your Subject Grades are not only the deciding factor. Moreover, the universities now require you to complete at least four to six AP courses before they make their offers. And again, the College Application is the final stressful issue for all high school students where you need to spend a lot of your valuable time with it. You are supposed to obtain recommendation letters from your teachers. Your college essay also plays a big role. There are timely requirements in this process and you are supposed to complete all of these. This is a nightmare. This is unnecessary stress for high schoolers. We did not indicate anything about your personal life with your friends and fun activities. Your family matters and family activities and responsibilities, your religious activities, and also the time you need to have your own independent life. Is it worthy to run through all these steps If I am in the US? The issue we are dealing with is your life in high school. You cannot challenge the system, in a sense, you have to obey the rules and terms of your school. But the real factor is not many students and parents understand the reality. Check the facts and figures of the students in your high school who were able to get into some of the greatest universities in the state or country. Even one of the most popular high schools in Maryland, USA, in 2019, only 32% were able to get admission in to University of Maryland College Park, which is one of the best universities in the state. And further, only 7.8% of students were able to gain places in the top universities in all other states. This is the second-best high school in Maryland and 125th in the US, but still, not even 40% managed to get into the best universities. That is just 200 out of the 499 students that graduated in 2019 who were able to get into the universities when all the 499 students were in a marathon heading towards a mirage. Think about the general US High School Student Population. Did you know the statistics of students who are stressed, depressed, attempted to commit suicide, or drop out of schools? And what will happen to the drop-outs? SUPPA’S question is why did other 299 students of that high school need to stress themselves and risk their lives unnecessarily. Look at this picture; You cannot walk in highways, do not get into it unless you are sure of the conditions of your car, remember that you have to maintain the speed, Do not forget to get into the right line to leave from the right exit, never forget that if you miss the exit, no stopping and no reversing until you reach the next exit. SUPPA’S Proposal to Create Structured Plans? SUPPA’S says, the multiple issues that caused high schoolers to be dropouts, have to stress or commit suicide are the ultimate result of the education system including the parents and students themselves. Sooner or later, SUPPA’S will bring this debate to the public. You being students, don’t stress yourself to do everything that others do. Then it is a question for you as to what you should do and what you can achieve in return. Career structures of students cannot assess or measure from one universal system. It’s vary from countries, diversity of people, economies, population, geographical differentiates and opportunities. SUPPA’S says Parents have to play a major role in a student's life. In general theory, the Elementary School age of a child is very important to both parents and students. This is the first stage to identify the child’s future but remember not the one and only period in child’s life. And most important thing to understand is that some children may show their interest and tendencies to change their paths. When the child comes to the Middle school, that is the 3 years parents and teachers must pay their high attention to the activities of child, what he likes and which way he shows his skills. Many surveys show that some children are high potential in multiple skills and also, they change their likes and dislikes time to time. Every child is not the same. Irrespective of all their backgrounds, once in high schools, they know what their career goals are, but the unfortunate factor is that, in many diversity backgrounds parents, adults or teachers erstwhile won’t accept their decisions. How could I overcome all issues in the High School system and continue my studies? Check the statistics of student’s success to the best universities and compare your current subject knowledge against other students. Analyze and estimate the “MAXIMUM POTENTIAL” you could achieve.
