To whom is this service for? This is only for students studying in US High Schools; focusing mostly on the freshman Why is it so important? Once students have enrolled in their respectful high schools, they study for 4 years and face complications about what exactly is demanded to be done in different periods throughout these 4 years. Most importantly, there are deadlines for certain requirements and if they miss any deadlines and fail to submit the required documents or take relevant actions, it might restrain their chance of getting into their dream universities. Some students get ready for this even before they start studying in their high schools. Parents believe that the school might guide them or that students will manage to plan on their own. Many students who have found major obstacles in the college application process complain about many issues. Some students criticize their school counselors, claiming that they never supervised the students and were not available to satisfy the students to discuss the college application process. Some complained about the school websites and county school district websites stating that that none have guided them on the right path. Some parents are single and have other children in the family who need attention despite their household work and employment, yet some students find blame with parents. Some students say that they are the first generation in colleges and parents have no acquaintance about the college application process. Therefore, SUPPA’S is taking a significant step by assisting students in this process, guiding them in a highly professional manner through every stage, from their first month in the high school, keeping in mind the devastating challenges that may arise and essential requirements that need to be completed by the respectful deadlines. Students are also benefited from Stress Management and Time Management sessions carried out by SUPPA’S. Many students say it is fully worth to seek SUPPA’S professional assistance if you can afford their charges as you could be freely moving ahead comparing to others. Compare the US Highschool system against the UK, Australia, and German education systems It is important to have a fundamental knowledge of education systems in other parts of the world to enhance your knowledge about global education. In the UK, the school system is divided into 5 main categories. Key Stage 4 is for Grades 9, 10, and 11 students, and Key Stage 5 is for Grades 12 and 13. Students in Key Stage 4 study for the GCSE Ordinary Examination with 8 to 10 subjects and Key Stage 5 is the most decisive 2 years where they have a choice of studies completely different to Key Stage 4. They have to select 3/4/5 subjects and it is GCSE Advanced Level and their University studies will be decided only on the merits of their Key Stage 5 results. This is further known as International Baccalaureate studies or “Sixth Form” studies. Australia also has a similar system to the UK. Their students’ complete grade 10 and then the next 2 years they are at HSC level which is the decisive 2 years for University studies. Germany too has a similar system called “Abitur.” Students in grade 10 must study 2 years in grades 11 and 12 in this class to get admissions to universities. The most important thing to remember and understand is that all these 2 years of studies in all these countries are limited to 3-5 subjects and that is the only deciding factor for University admission in those countries. Most of the time those previous studies have no connections to your studies in 11 and 12. Students in these countries do not need to essentially engage in any extracurricular activities, prove leadership qualities, volunteer hours, SAT or ACT, write essays, collect recommendations. Only what matters is your Advanced Level results to get admission. There is a serious fact in global trends that allowed students to stop their education at grade 10 after completing their O/L Examination and get in to universities in few different options. They can study 18- or 24-months advanced diploma and go to a university for the third and final year. And also, students can come in to US community colleges and study 2 years and then transfer to the 3rd year of US universities. Either way, amazingly, students save 2 full years. Highschool years in the US system It’s for four years. Grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 are high school years. You typically join the high school after completing your grade 8 studies from a different middle school. Is it just 2 exams in the US to get through to Universities? This is another major difference between the US education system. In any of the school years, the US does not have any major examinations organized by the federal government, state department, public school department of the county, or the particular school. From day one you start in grade 9; you get homework and assignments for all your subjects and the grades you get for all these will play a role for your university admission. Usually, you have exams 6 times during each year as midterms and end terms but it’s not all exam mode or written exams. And some subjects may not have any at all and evaluate students through all other activities during the semester. Truly the system makes confusion if you are unaware of all that’s happening such as it is your choice to sit for AP exams which play a major effect on your college admission. However, one would say that US education is the best in the world where students will come out as intelligent young adults as all they learned in high schools are highly practical comparing to students’ study one subject few months and thereafter another and another where they forget what they have learned first by the end of the year. SUPPA’S says, US is the best ever, if students are to be selected by the universities only from the merits of the high school diploma certificate. Do all the US universities have one system in the admission process? This is a little tricky question as a lot of students and parents in the US have a wrong impression about this. The common application is typically the main application through which you may apply to universities. However, each university will then have its application-specific for the school you are interested in applying. Furthermore, it should be kept in mind that the admission criteria are different for every university. What is ACT and SAT and do I have to essentially pass one? These are the 2 major exam bodies internationally recognized conducts by the US educational body called Study link. This is not compulsory in the US but most of the Universities assess students through the results of this and even they announce the minimum score they need for admissions. The most important fact that you should remember is that high schools will not teach you specifically in preparation for the SAT or ACT Exams. Most of TOP Universities give more preference and acceptance for these exam results than they do for your high school grades. What is GPA and if my GPA is as low as 2.5 will it be a problem? GPA is your Marks for the Credits of the courses you have taken. Your semester GPA will continue and change with your next semester marks. Generally speaking, if the GPA is less than 2.0, it is bad. The minimum GPA required is 2.5 but 3.0 is what many universities like to see. If you are looking for good universities focus on having a GPA of at least 3.5, furthermore, if you desire to get into an IVY league, you should maintain a GPA of at least 4.0 Is my Highschool guiding me to choose all my subjects every semester and is this all that I have to accomplish each semester? This is the misunderstanding of many students. The Public-School system in every county and State has indeed appointed counselors to guide students. But the expectation of Public Schools and students are not meeting this requirement. One of the major reasons is the lack of counselors in High schools. Therefore, you cannot blame all your school counselors. Unless you can get help from outside, your chances are very high to drop off from the system. Who will guide me on College Essays, where can I look for Scholarships and Financial Aid? Again, the same scenario you are facing here. There are occasions where students may have to go after school authorities to get recommendations. In connection to College Essays, Scholarships, and Financial Aid, you do not get much support from your school. How could SUPPA’S assist students in College Application? SUPPA’S is taking a major role in this process by taking care of drafting a career plan and a path to registered students.
